In the beginning........

What was your first experience with computers? Was it a game, a software program, a class?

  1. My employer was talking about getting a computer. I was scared. Signed up for a computer software class at Cecil College. Was a disruptive student to overcome my anxiety. Passed the class and began a long list of computer software application.

  2. My first experience with computers was when my son bought his first computer into the house. He taught me how to use it and I remember playing Civilization one on it. I've been hooked ever since. I also worked with computers at work and now that I'm retired, I am hooked on online gaming.

  3. Employment. Employer paid for classes. Help from other employees taught me more. Kids can help, but their comments don't build my self-confidence.

  4. Slight technical problem with the email address in the email. Just post a comment in the blog and we can respond that way.

  5. Some time in the early 1960's I started with an IBM 650 & a 610 working with DuPont at the Ex Station. The 610 had a paper tape machine language program with 80 storage locations and was used to calculate the orbit of the Echo satellite. I used all sorts of computers - main frames & PCs - until I retired in 1992. Now I have three PCs networked together that are more powerful than anything I used at DuPont.

  6. My first computer was a Dell laptop and I had an AOL account with dial up. Everything was so slow you got anxious waiting for it to work. The first time it froze up on me Im did not know what to do andv was anxious. To try to turn it off I pulled the plug not thinking that it would run on the battery.I finally held the on/off button down until it went off. I ended up calling that "force feed off."

  7. Each time I try to find out where I have to go to post a comment. Finally remember I have to look at the comments and then I find where to do it. Am I missing something as there ought to be a quicker or different way to post???

  8. My work had many systems, pumps, switches, motors to control and they came in with a computer system. I became quite interested and got one at home and it started there.
